U.S. farm industry groups are urging President-elect Donald Trump to exclude the industry from his proposed mass deportation plans, citing potential disruptions to the industry’s labor force and impact on the food supply chain.

New York City officials are urgently making plans to close a large migrant shelter and relocate migrants elsewhere amid concerns that the facility could potentially be shutdown with the incoming Trump administration. 

Immigration Detention Center Contractor Sues Over California Health Inspections 

A large private prison contractor, GEO Group, filed a federal lawsuit against California officials in an effort to overturn a state law that allows local public health officials to inspect immigration detention facilities, threatening the health and safety of those held in them. 

Trump Team Eyes Funding Showdown with Sanctuary Cities over Immigration

In response to mayors of sanctuary cities stating refusal to comply with Trump’s potential immigration plans, President-elect Donald Trump’s advisers are discussing plans to cut off federal resources and funds from these cities if they refuse to participate in deportations of undocumented immigrants.

Amid increasing asylum applications, refugees, and housing shortages resulting in public concern and protest, Ireland’s official immigration policy has tightened and deportations have increased by 156% this year as compared to last. 

Italian Police and Social Workers Leave Albania after Staffing Empty Migrant Centres

A month after new offshore Italian detention centers for asylum seekers in Albania were opened, Italian police officers, social workers, and staff are being withdrawn from the facilities following Italian courts’ ruling them unlawful and the centers being unused for weeks.  

Migrant Caravans Not Reaching Border, Mexico President Says After Trump Threats

Following President-elect Trump’s proposed tariffs on Mexican imports, Mexican President, Claudia Sheinbaum, responded by asserting that migrant caravans are no longer reaching the U.S.-Mexico border and highlighted Mexico’s role in addressing migration and drug trafficking.
